The fusion between sea, tourists and sports was experienced in a great way this past weekend with the debut card of the MMA promoter PCFL (Pacific Coast Fight League) in San Juan del Sur, with an event of 8 fights to mark the debut spectacular of this company that seeks to develop the talent of the city and of emerging fighters in Nicaragua.

The PCFL Octagon for the first time hosted athletes who demonstrated their bravery and courage inside the cage. In the first fight of the night Ibrahin Villalobos prevailed over Bismark Díaz by submission. Also by way of submission, Jhon Ponce defeated Bryan Cárcamo with an excellent maneuver at the level of the canvas.

The evening continued with the victories of Luis Acevedo over José Tamariz, meanwhile David Parralez was proclaimed the winner of Víctor Mercado. Meanwhile, in one of the most even fights on the card, Byron Jiménez defeated Enoc Escoto by knockout.

The surprise of the night came in the semi-main event when Jeffeson Zapata beat Michael “el flaco” Pérez via cards, which was a surprise since Pérez was the favorite to win the fight.

JOSÉ RIVERA WINS THE INTERNATIONAL FIGHT

The main fight on the billboard was an international clash Nicaragua vs. Honduras, the renowned José Rivera maintained respect for the house and in an intense fight managed to defeat the catracho fighter Walter Cortes by knockout in the second round.

Rivera used a great throw to take Cortes to his corner and then punish him at ground level causing the referee to stop the fight. The evening had a good number of fans who filled the Port of San Juan del Sur where the brawl took place.

Wesley Tiffer, coach and known for promoting martial arts in Nicaragua for more than a decade, is part of the PCFL and mentioned that the promoter’s next event is scheduled for December.
