The International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO), an international organization specialized in the golf tourism industry in all its facets, has awarded the ACGCBCV with the prestigious IAGTO Outstanding Service Award in recognition of their activity promoting the Costa Blanca and the Valencian Community as a golf destination throughout Europe, another award to add after the one also awarded by IAGTO in 2018 for the “Best Golf Destination in Europe” thanks to the choice of nearly 700 ttoo in secret ballot.
Created in 1997, the IAGTO encompasses almost 2,500 members from 88 different countries related to the world of golf, distributed in their capacity as tour operators, golf resorts, hotels, golf courses, airlines, tourist institutions, associations, companies, media specialized communication, etc. Peter Walton, President and CEO of IAGTO, has been in charge of communicating the designation of the award to the ACGCBCV, highlighting the great work carried out in these difficult times due to the pandemic, which forced the cancellation of the awards ceremony in 2020.
Founded in 1992, the ACGCBCV It is the oldest Golf Courses Association in Spain and a benchmark in international tourist golf with a history of almost 30 years promoting the destination in the markets of golf tourists from all over Europe. Initially made up of the first clubs in Alicante, it currently has 23 golf courses throughout the C. Valenciana, 40 hotels and accommodation companies and several sponsors and collaborating companies. One of the purposes of the ACGCBCV is to convey that golf not only creates prosperity and thousands of jobs, but also generates sustainable ecosystems and involves heart-healthy exercise.
