The Secretary General for Tourism of Andalusia, Manuel Muñoz, met with those responsible for the in Andalusia to analyze the current situation of this segment and gather the for its development, in a meeting held within the framework of the Estrella Damm N / To Andalusia Masters.

The meeting, at the Real Club Valderrama in the Cadiz town of San Roque, allowed to establish direct contact with directors of golf courses in the community, professionals in the sector and other representatives of these facilities and hotel complexes related to this product.

The meeting addressed the positioning of the segment in Andalusia, as one of the region’s greatest attractions and in which it is considered an international benchmark, being the first destination in the country in terms of number of fields and one of the main options in the south from Europe to practice this sport.

Muñoz stressed that the meeting “has allowed us to continue with the continuous contact that we always maintain with professionals from the wide and diverse range of quality golf in Andalusia, deeply aware of its potential as a tourist product and responsible for us being one of the leaders in world level ”.

Thus, he recalled that we are “at a key moment for the recovery of the tourism industry”, so in this event “we resume the pulse of the hand of the regional business offer of a segment that contributes to fight against seasonality and allows to increase the average expense of the traveler ”.

In this sense, they have transferred their expectations for the coming years, once mobility and a certain normality in the tourist activity have recovered, as well as their impressions to further boost the segment and increase its contribution to the destination’s income.

The Secretary General for Tourism stated that these contributions “allow us to enrich and adapt to your needs the actions planned for the promotion of golf that will be programmed in the Action Plan 2022, always within the framework of the General Sustainable Tourism Plan META 2027” .

This document refers precisely to golf as one of the segments that will be especially influenced by its suitability to achieve the objectives set in terms of seasonality and quality, within the promotion, marketing programs and for the structuring of the territory through the creation of tourist products.

Action plan

In the same way, the professionals have been given the Action Plan that is being developed this year around golf, with more than a dozen specifically designed actions that represent a total investment of more than two million euros.

Along with supporting the Andalucía Masters, the Spanish Women’s Open, the start of the promotion of the 2023 Solheim Cup, communication campaigns and agreements with intermediaries are also contemplated. To this must be added the dissemination of the segment in the generic actions that are carried out throughout the year in the various tourist forums or meetings.

Muñoz also referred to the boost that this tournament represents for the image of Andalusia as a venue for major events and a golf destination, becoming an event “that will once again focus the eyes of fans from all over the world and show the enviable climate, the quality of our fields and the wide and diverse complementary offer ”.
