The European tour and the French Golf Federation have confirmed this Thursday that the French Open will return to Le Golf National in 2022, after two years without playing. The oldest open in the Europe Continental, which was played for the first time in 1906, will return to the circuit calendar next year after a double cancellation in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic of the covid-19.

The event is scheduled from September 22 to 25, curiously the same week in which Le Golf National, on the outskirts of Paris, hosted the Ryder cup in 2018, an appointment with an indelible memory for the European team that led Thomas bjorn, which beat the United States by 17.5 points to 10.5.

The French Open 2022 will be the 104th edition of the tournament and the 19th in a row that is played in Le Golf National. It will have a prize pool of three million euros, double that in its last edition. «We are looking forward to Le Golf National, one of the most important fields in Europe ”, he pointed out Keith pelley, executive director of the European tour.
