[Londres. 10 de junio de 2022] The International Mixed Martial Arts Fedeation (IMMAF) is coming to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), with the 2022 World Junior MMA Championships for youth ages 12-17.

The world governing body for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) has confirmed the competition dates of August 17-20 (4 days), with the draw for the tournament taking place on August 16. The event will be broadcast live on immaf.tv, from a venue yet to be confirmed.

The International Federation of MMA indicated that this event will be organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and MMA Federation, and will be held in three categories of youth tournaments, under the IMMAF Youth MMA Rules for youth from 12 to 13 years old (Youth C), 14 to 15 years (Youth B) and 16 years. to 17 years (Youth A).

IMMAF indicated that the rule sets have been modified from the Unified Rules regarding the stage of development and safety of each age group, as advised by the IMMAF’s medical, training and regulatory affairs committees, among others. as they are found that blows to the head are not allowed for competitors under 18 years of age.

The 2021 Junior Worlds attracted 331 athletes from 23 countries to Bulgaria, amid ongoing lockdowns and restricted travel for many countries. The top 3 teams in the ranking were Ukraine, Russia and the USA. Now that the lockdowns have been lifted and the location has been changed, a greater variety of nations can be expected to participate.

The standard will also increase, as the minimum technical level required this year for 14-17 year olds will be the “orange” grade, while the “yellow” grade will remain the requirement for 12-13 year olds.
