Taka Nakagami responded to accusations of being “dangerous” by his rival Alex Rins by eliminating him in the following race.

Sunday’s Catalan Grand Prix race in Spain was marred by chaos when Nakagami hit the home driver at turn two on the opening lap. Also caught in the collision was Italy’s Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia, who, like Rins, fell to the side of the track.

Slow-motion replays showed how Nakagami’s head appeared to make contact with Bagnaia’s vehicle as he was propelled from his motorcycle. The Japanese star ended up sitting on the gravel next to Rins after they were both sent sliding across the surface.

The Sports Center account summed it up aptly on Twitter, posting: “CRASH ACCIDENT! Takaaki Nakagami went down and ended up hitting Pecco Bagnaia’s rear wheel with his face. Alex Rins was also involved and flew out.”

Inevitably, all three riders were forced to retire, with Nakagami seemingly justifying Rins’s words to him after a crash between the two in Italy last week: “How do I feel about Taka?” he told reporters.

“Honestly, I don’t understand what he did. If you ask the drivers, he’s one of the most dangerous guys on the track in terms of overtaking.”

Should Taka Nakagami be sanctioned for his constant mayhem? Let us know in the comments section.

The Spaniard has yet to express his thoughts on the latest incident with the Japanese star, but his words are unlikely to consist of many jokes. However, the race stewards decided not to take any action.

And fans on social media were sympathetic to Rins’ plight following the incident. @splettnet wrote: “Alex Rins 3rd straight DNF, he doesn’t deserve this.”

Others noted that it was another blow to his hopes of staying in the sport, with speculation surrounding his place for next season.
