Two weeks remain for General Villegas to vibrate again to the rhythm of a boxing evening that promises. July 1 is the day scheduled for the second big event of the year by the Municipal Box School. The scenario will be repeated, being the SUM of Volunteer Firefighters the main epicenter where all those who love the discipline will be able to see the city’s boxers again. But the aforementioned event will also have the special participation of the three-time world champion Alejandra “La Locomotora” Oliveras. The former boxer from Jujuy will arrive in the city a day earlier and she will be part of various activities with the boys from the school.
María Vivas, a member of the Municipal Boxing School commission, provided some details about what is expected for this new evening: “We are very well on the way, the final details are missing,” she commented. «In total we are going to have about 6 or 7 fights. It will mostly be the guys who were at the previous event, plus some debuts. We will have the last fights of Valentín Domínguez and Candela Verdugo before they jump to professionalism », she added.
Vivas emphasized what the presence of someone as renowned as La Locomotora Oliveras can generate: «His arrival will have us all expectant. Personally, I am more interested in the contact that she will have with the children of the school during the day. Later in the evening she will also participate in the raffles with the public and will display the belts that she has won in her career », she stated.
At a time of the year when the cold is on the surface, María stressed that this will not be an inconvenience when attending the event: «We are going to have a heated environment so that everyone who attends can have the best comfort possible. Tickets are now on sale. They can be purchased by contacting the boys at the boxing school or by going to the gym where we train.
Finally, Vivas referred to the reopening of children’s boxing classes: «Three weeks ago the training for litters from 7 to 11 years old returned. They had been suspended due to everything that happened with the pandemic. Luckily the boys have already begun to add in quantity. In fact, we started with 6 or 7 and in the last class there were more than 20».
The local boxers confirmed to get into the ring on July 1 are: Lucas Giacobone, Tomás Giacobone, Yamil Luzuriaga, Martín Miranda, Tomás Ávalos, Candela Verdugo, Valentín Domínguez and Ricardo Gallardo.
