The members of the Real Club de Golf del Prat, to the rescue of the club. The historic Catalan golf club will receive five million euros from its partnerswith the aim of reducing the club’s debt, according to The vanguard.

A group of seventy partners will each disburse 70,000 euros in the form of a seven-year bond to refinance debt. The Nara Capital investment fund will contribute at least another 10% of the amount raised and will be in charge of negotiating with the creditor banks, Bbva, Sabadell and Caixabank, holders of thirds of the club’s debt. If the operation goes ahead, Nara Capital aspires to modernize the club and adapt it to the new requirements of golf practice.

The club moved in 2004 to new facilities, with an investment of twenty million. From then until 2021, the Real Club de Golf del Prat has not generated surpluses. To cover the drop in income due to the pandemic, the club applied a cost reduction contingency plan of 680,000 eurosincluding a temporary employment regulation file (Erte) and measures to be more efficient.

Despite the pandemic, the club has increased by 460 members in the last year, reaching 2,100 subscribers. It has been chaired since 2019 by Francisco Schröder, who was the financial director of FC Barcelona until the arrival of Joan Laporta at the Barça entity.

Real Club de Golf del Prat closed 2020 with a 0.3% drop in revenue compared to 2019, when it had a turnover of 6.69 million euros. This past 2021, the club has had a budget of 6.94 million euros.
