The rumors about the return of the NBA to Mexico are becoming more and more true. Last June, different media reported that the best basketball league match for this year in our country would be between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs at the Mexico City Arena.
The exact date for this meeting is still unknown since the NBA has not revealed its schedule for the 2022-2023 season, but rumors indicate that the match between both teams will be on December 17.
According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel portal, the quintet commanded by Greg Popovich, will give up a local commitment on their calendar to receive the Heat in Mexico City.
The NBA will return to Mexican lands after a break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, although the league never stopped its plans to continue with games in the country’s capital due to the success in each of its past presentations.
Raúl Zárraga, president of NBA Mexico, has been positive in recent months about the return of the games to CDMX, despite the fact that the announcement has not yet been made officially.
Both teams already know what it’s like to play in the Mexico City Arena. For the Heat it would be their second time since in 2017 they faced the Brooklyn Nets, while San Antonio would add their third visit to the Arena after playing a game in 2017 (against the Suns) and 2019 (the same against Phoenix).
