Get a triple-double in the NBA It is a great recognition for players who exceed 10 figures in three of the five statistics that are currently recorded in the North American Basketball League (points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks). It is not easy to achieve it, and only those who dominate all facets of the game are usually able to achieve it.
Needless to say, he already has a quadruple-double: exceed 10 digits in four of the five statistics. Until today, and since blocks and steals officially began to be counted in the 1973/74 season, a quadruple-double has only been achieved in the entire history of the NBA on four specific occasions.
1. Nate Thurmond – Chicago Bulls
Thurmond was the first player to hit a quadruple-double. He did it on October 18, 1974, in a Bulls game against the Atlanta Hawks. In 45 minutes he registered 22 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists and 12 blocks. In addition, he was the only one of the four who needed an extension to get it.
2. Alvin Robertson – San Antonio Spurs
It took almost 12 years (February 18, 1986) for someone to match Nate Thurmond’s feat. Robertson, wearing the Spurs jersey, reached 20 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals, in 36 minutes, in a game against the Phoenix Suns.
3. Hakeem Olajuwon – Houston Rockets
On March 29, 1990, Olajuwon recorded the third quadruple-double in history. He did it against the Milwaukee Bucks. He added, in 40 minutes on the track, 18 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists and 11 blocks.
4. David Robinson – San Antonio Spurs
The NBA MVP in 1995 achieved, a year earlier (February 17, 1994) the best quadruple-double of all time in the NBA. His victim was the Detroit Pistons, who received 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 blocks in the 43 minutes that Robinson was on the floor.
