Lhe organization of The Open, the British Open, has reported that it will not invite Greg Norman being the visible face of the LIV Golf Invitational Series circuit financed with money from the United Arab Emirates.

“We can confirm that we have contacted Greg Norman to inform him that we have decided not to invite him to attend at this time. The Open 150 is an extremely important milestone for golf and we want to ensure that the focus remains on celebrating the Championship and its heritage.”explains the organization of the world’s oldest golf tournament.

“Unfortunately, we do not believe that would be the case if Greg were to attend. We hope that when circumstances allow, Greg will be able to attend again in the future,” the British Open organizer The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews concluded.

Norman twice won the British Openin 1986 and 1993, and in seven others they finished in the Top 10.

The figure of Greg Norman has returned to the forefront of golf at 67 years old, since a few months ago he assumed the position of executive director and commissioner of the LIV Golf Invitational Series.
