This is the first time since 2006 that the MotoGP world championship will start in Europe. The race will be organized from March 24 to 26.

The Qatar Grand Prix has opened the motorcycling season since 2007, but the Losail circuit, a night race starting next year, will be under construction at the beginning of 2023.

Likewise, Losail hosts a Formula 1 Grand Prix from 2021.

The FIM indicated that a winter testing session will also take place at the Algarve circuit in Portimao the week before the Grand Prix.

This track has been hosting MotoGP since 2020. The last two editions have been won by Frenchman Fabio Quartararo, current world champion.

The full schedule for the 2023 MotoGP season will be announced later, the International Motorcycling Federation said.
