After being held last year without public attendance due to the restrictions imposed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the golf tournament will welcome fans of this sport in the 14th edition of the annual competition, which will take place from March 4 to 6 at the Grand Reserve Golf Club, in Rio Grande.

In order to enter the facilities, fans must present proof of complete vaccination or a negative result of a PCR test. Likewise, it was reported that the current executive orders and the guidelines of the PGA Tour, a circuit to which the tournament held on the island belongs, will be followed.

The presence of Puerto Rican Rafael “Rafa” Campos is expected, who last year had his best performance at the Puerto Rico Open by finishing third. He will be accompanied by Puerto Ricans Edward Figueroa and Chris Nido. In fact, 20 professional golfers are expected to compete for a purse of $3.7 million and 300 FedExCup points.

The Puerto Rico Open is part of the 2021-2022 PGA TOUR season schedule, which began in September 2021 and consists of 48 official tournaments; 45 FedExCup regular season events and 3 playoff events.

“We are very excited to continue our successful 14-year partnership with the Puerto Rico Open,” John Norris, PGA TOUR Senior Vice President of Tournament Business Affairs, said in a written statement.

“The PGA TOUR is stronger than ever in our history, and we are confident that each of the tournaments that make up the FedEx Cup schedule will give the best players in the world the opportunity to do what they do best: inspire and entertain players. our fans around the world while making a significant impact in the communities where our tournaments are held.”

Tickets for the event will be put on sale later, and can be obtained through the Ticketera platform.
