The Formula 1 teams will hold a meeting with the FIA before the Austrian Grand Prix to discuss various issues on which they disagree with the highest body in motorsport, according to Autosport.com. The most controversial aspect that will be discussed in that meeting will be the ‘porpoising’, especially the way in which the FIA intends to control it.

Some teams do not understand why the FIA has released two technical regulations in this regard, much less why they have interfered in this aspect: “What will be next? That they measure the level of water on the track to force us to change from intermediate tires to those for extreme rain?”, Said a team manager.

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has stated that what needs to be discussed is “the process” and “why this topic has been discussed”. In addition, Horner does not understand the need for technical regulations in this regard either: “In this British Grand Prix it seems that there has not been much ‘porpoising’, so it seems that the teams are solving it”.

Even the Mercedes team, probably the team that has suffered the most from this problem throughout the season, is also not very convinced about measuring ‘porpoising’: “We will fix the problems to improve our performance, not by measurements”

In addition to this problem, the meeting will also address other issues that concern the ten teams on the grid, such as the budget ceiling established for this season and how it has been affected by inflation, as well as the new engine regulations that It will come into force in 2026.
