The Vincci Tenerife Golf hotel obtains the Biosphere Certification
The four-star Vincci Tenerife Golf hotel has received the Biosphere Certification for its “firm commitment to sustainable tourism”. The Madrid-based company has also received the award for another of its hotels, the MAE of Barcelona. Both meet all the requirements established to achieve this distinction, designed for companies that have among their main objectives the improvement of the environmental impact and the sustainable management of their resources.
The objective of the Biosphere Certificate is precisely for companies to develop a tourism model non aggressive with your environment. It seeks to develop the tourism industry in a sustainable way while promoting the social and cultural authenticity of each destination, according to the magazine Hostelry.
Inspired by UN summits
The methodology for granting this certificate is inspired by the world summits sponsored by the United Nations through the UNWTO and UNESCO in 2017. The hotels to which they are awarded must meet goals set forth in “The 17 Sustainable Development Goals”, in “The World Charter for Sustainable Tourism +20” and in “The guidelines of the Paris Climate Summit.
Since its creation, Vincci Hotels has set itself a series of commitments related to respect for the social and environmental surroundings. In addition, it has a Corporate Social Responsibility Master Plan, which affects the entire company.
carbon footprint calculator
Some of the actions of the group that have been decisive in receiving the certificate in these two hotels have been the Decarbonisation Plan for the reduction of CO2 emissions, the use of 100% green energy in its establishments, the project to reduce chemical products or the “Plastic Free” program for the elimination of plastics.
To measure the company’s emissions, Vincci has created a carbon footprint calculator so that all customers can find out the damage their stay leaves on the environment and thus be able to compensate for it later. This tool allows living experiences of zero emissions.
