The WBC agreed to sanction the historic fight between Oscar Rivas (27-1-0; 19KO’s) and WBC cruiserweight # 18 ranked Ryan Rozicki (13-0; 13KO’s), when Rivas’ original rival , Bryant Jennings, was forced to cancel his participation, as he was able to submit to the Canadian government’s entry requirements regarding COVID-19, and with the mandatory quarantine requirements.
Rivas, ranked No. 1 in the WBC, represented his native Colombia at the 2008 Olympics, then signed a promotional contract with GYM, settling in Montreal.
“Nothing could stop me from preparing for this fight… I have stayed focused for so long on this fight. I was surprised to learn about my new opponent, but nothing changed at all in my preparation for this fight. I am ready!” Said Rivas.
