As happens every year, the International Federation of Soccer History and Statistics published the annual ranking of teams for 2021 and for the first time a Brazilian team is in first place.
With 322 points, Palmeiras, current two-time champion of the Copa Libertadores, finished in first place and one step below, with 313, stands out the presence of Atlético Mineiro, last winner of the Brasileirao. The podium was completed by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, with 300 units.
The ranking also left other striking data, such as the fall of Barcelona since the departure of Lionel Messi, since it went from position 13 to 32.
With regard to Argentina, the best located is River Plate. With 165 points, those led by Marcelo Gallardo stayed in 52nd place (in 2020 they finished in 41st) thanks to obtaining the Champions Trophy, the Argentine Super Cup and the Professional Football League.
Boca Juniors, with 159.5 units, finished in 61st place (down three places compared to last season). Those from La Ribera won the Diego Armando Maradona Cup and the Argentine Cup.
