Trust in the group is total: “The team is doing fantastically well every weekend. We optimized everything. Some weekends we are not so competitive, but at Monza we had both cars in the points, and in Sochi we were sixth and were even able to get on the podium.”

Facing the remainder of the season in 2021, Alpine runs into a limited engine compared to the Mercedes, Honda and Ferrari. The Renault engine remains, fundamentally, the homologated unit in 2020. But they do not plan to introduce new features this year, everything is delayed to next year. “We are focused on next year’s package and next year’s engine, we will introduce it before the components freeze, before next year’s season.
