At just nine years old, Larissa Wheelless packs her bags to represent Costa Rica for the second time in the 20th edition of the US Kids Golf World
This is the most famous competition for children worldwide in the sport of golf.
Wheelless, the only Costa Rican in the contest, will participate in the 9-year-old category and will compete against 109 participants from August 4 to 6, 2022.
“I am very happy to represent my second country, Costa Rica, it is a great pride, I carry Costa Rica in my heart, because my mother and grandparents are Ticos and it is a place that every time I visit, I fall in love more. I am proud to have Costa Rican blood,” the girl stressed.
This young athlete, who has three nationalities (American, Costa Rican and Panamanian), began her career at the age of four when she lived in the Dominican Republic.
“Currently, I train four days a week at Jim McLean Golf School, one of the best golf academies in Florida and this year, said school chose a group of seven children with great potential to become professionals and I was part of that and they gave me a $10,000 scholarship,” he stressed.
To get to the competition, Larissa managed to get first place in different local qualifying tournaments in Miami.
