This time, the UFC Vegas 43 will feature one fewer fight on the card due to a positive case of coronavirus. The fight between Terrance McKinney and Fares Ziam was removed after McKinney, one of the protagonists of the corners, announced that someone on his team tested positive for COVID-19.
The loss was revealed by McKinney himself last Saturday morning.
“Someone in my corner got COVID and they were forced to cancel my fight. I don’t have COVID-19, but they say that because of the exposure I can’t fight. I’m sorry everyone, I appreciate all the support and love. We are working hard to reschedule the fight as soon as possible, ”the Texan fighter wrote on his Twitter account.
McKinney, was coming off winning his debut in the Octagon. After agreeing to debut just days before the event, Terrance knocked out Matt Frevola in just 7 seconds at UFC 263. That win added to a streak in which McKinney has finished off his last four opponents in 242 seconds or less, including a pair of victories under the banner of the Legacy Fighting Alliance. “T Wrecks” stands out for his balance both on his feet and on the mat, with 5 wins by KO / TKO and 6 by way of completion.
After falling to Dan Madge in his first promotional foray at UFC 242, Ziam would look to extend his winning streak. After losing his debut at UFC 242. He won his next two fights. In addition, in his last fight, he beat Luigi Vendramini by majority decision at UFC 263. The French fighter stands out for his explosiveness and pressure that he imposes on each opponent he faces.
However, the fans of both fighters still have little hope of seeing them fight in the Octagon. Since, assuming Terrance McKinney continue to test negative, along with most of his team, it seems likely that he could appear on the undercard of one of the UFC December Fight Night cards.
