After 12 intense rounds, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk proudly displays a Ukrainian flag made by Ukrainian soldiers after defeating Briton Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia and retaining the heavyweight title.

“It has been very important for my country, for my team and, personally, for me. Because I have boxed for all of Ukraine and for half the world.”

“A difficult victory, but very important and necessary,” said the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, via Twitter in his congratulations to the boxer.

The fight, known as fury in the red sea, consisted of the Briton’s revenge to recover the heavyweight titles that the Ukrainian took from him in 2021. But after a very close decision, the jury proclaimed Usyk the winner.
