Six years after his retirement as a professional, the former world boxing champion, Marco Antonio Rubio, continues to be involved in the sport that gave him great satisfaction, but also life lessons.

Located in the border city of Ciudad Acuña, the only universal monarch that the state of Coahuila has had, has a gym of his property, located next to his residence, where children, youth and adults, receive advice from the popular “Veneno” .

“They come from many places, even from Piedras Negras, they get fully involved in training and then we talk about what my experience as a professional was,” confesses the one born in Torreón more than four decades ago.

But Marco Antonio is not only focused exclusively on boxing, but also performs social activities, such as visiting public schools in the town of Coin. On other occasions, he has been in orphanages and nursing homes, always with the best disposition.

After saying goodbye as a boxer, he served as alderman and in his time as a civil servant, he promoted the sport in general, not counting the necessary resources for the city that now welcomes him with affection and gratitude.

“The idea is to help people, that’s what this is about, whether in the gym, with motivational visits or talks,” he commented, who currently serves as coach of several prospects, who had a great role in the past Games. National CONADE (formerly the Children’s and Youth Olympiad).
