Panama’s participation in the 2021 Belgrade Boxing World Championship left good feelings, especially in the boxer Eduardo Beckford.
The Isthmian reached the knockout stages of the 71 kilogram category. Due to his performance, he finished among the best 16 of his division in the world.
“We will continue working to achieve the goal, which is to reach (the Olympic Games) Paris 2024. On behalf of the whole team, thank you and we love you very much”Beckford said in a message issued on the social networks of the Olympic Boxing Federation of Panama (Fedebop).
After winning his first two bouts, Beckford lost in the round of 16 to Albanian Alban Beqirio by a 1-4 split decision.

The Panamanian defeated Mohammed Silah, from Sierra Leone, and Jia-Jyun Chiuan, from Chinese Taipei, in the tournament.
The Panamanian delegation consisted of a total of three boxers. In addition to Beckford, Jonathan Miniel and Orlando Martínez competed, who lost in their preliminary fights within the categories of 63.5 and 60 kilograms, respectively.
