The Formula 1 World Championship is the most important competition in the International Automobile Federationwhich was founded in 1904 under the name Association Internationale des Automobile Clubs Reconnus (AIARC). It was not until after the Second World War, in 1947, that it was reorganized and the body known today emerged.
In addition, the first antecedents of the highest category of motorsport date back to 1894, when races were held from one town to another. Originally they were individual tests, without connection, and they evolved into endurance tests for vehicles and drivers.
In 1906, the first race with the name of Grand Prix was held, organized by the French Automobile Club, at Le Mans. From there the number was increasing and between 1922 and 1934 the number grew to 18, the maximum amount before the Second World War.
In 1947, the AIACR was reorganized and the International Automobile Federation (FIA) was born, which began with plans to merge multiple Grands Prix into a single competition, under the same regulations. In 1950 the first drivers championship of Formula 1 and a scoring system was established.
The first race was held on May 13 at the silverstone circuit and the Italian won it with Alfa Romeo. Although currently the Italian team remains in Formula 1, it has been absent for seasons, so the only team that has remained since 1950 is Ferrari, making it the oldest and longest running in the category.
It is then that the Formula 1 It began as such in 1950, and since then the rules and scoring system have evolved, as well as the vehicles and circuits. Currently the competition is made up of 22 races, but there are rumors that in 2023 the limit will be extended to 2025.
