After the controversy that generated the possibility of being included in the ranking of the WBC, Mark Anthony Barrera said what is what Jake Paul must do to achieve it: face a high-level fighter.
The last week Mauricio Sulaimanpresident of WBCsaid yes Jake Paul beat Hasim Rahman Jr. would enter the organization’s classifications.
And although that comment generated controversy, Barrier said Paul should go in, only if he beats one of the fighters placed in the top 15.
“In tastes genres are broken,” he said Barrier during a broadcast of One More Round. “In order to rank him they would have to put him with a high world ranking.”
To see if the youtuber has a chance of being on a list, the former boxer asked to measure him against a rival ranked 15th.
“Let him start with number 15, number 14 of his division,” he considered Barrier. “That they get him a shot with the number 14, 15 or 13 of the WBC to know if he has the arrests of being within the lists of the WBC”.
What Jake Paul must do is face a high ranked
The record of Paul he is 5-0 in fights held in 2020 and 2021; this weekend he will face Hasim Rahman Jr., who would not give the agreed weight and the fight was cancelled. And though he doesn’t doubt his ability, Barrier he wants to see him with proven rivals.
“Because of the few fights he has and the rivals he has, I see it difficult (for him to enter the ranking),” he considered. “But in this boxing, anything can happen.”
And although there is much criticism for the type of rivals of Jake Paulsince he has faced a former basketball player and two former MMA fighters, Barrier insists on seeing him with a quality boxer before expressing his opinion regarding Jake Paul.
“I can’t speak ill of him until I see him with a world classmate or with someone who has the guts to be able to demand it on top of the boxing ring,” he concluded. “With that type of rivals (who he has faced) it could not be taken into account for an organization.”
