Santo Domingo. – The XXXVIII National Youth Boxing Championship, which will take place from the 11th to the 14th of this month in Sabana Grande de Boya, Monte Plata, has been dedicated to the Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho.

Rubén García, president of the Dominican Federation of Amateur Boxing (), reported that the dedication of the event to Minister Camacho was unanimously approved by the executive committee of that institution.

“The main motivation is the great support that Fedoboxa has been receiving from the Government and especially from the Minister of Sports. Camacho has been with us since he took office, working shoulder to shoulder for boxing,” Garcia said.

About 250 fighters who were winners of the regional qualifiers held throughout the country will participate in the fair.

“It will be a great sporting event, in which the best youth boxers in the Dominican Republic will compete, including those who make up the national team in that category,” Garcia said.

The technical director of the fair will be the renowned leader Juan Alberto Rodríguez, who explained that the qualifiers were held from July 7 to 10 and the 32 provinces of the country participated.

In Santiago the provinces that make up the North region were eliminated, in Barahona those in the South and in La Romana those in the East. In addition to the qualifiers for the Santo Domingo province and the National District.

On August 11, the organizers will receive the different participating regions.

Each region will be represented in the national championship by 13 fighters. Monte Plata, as hostess, will also have that number of boxers. The Great Santo Domingo will take 26 boxers.

Rodríguez explained that young people of 17 and 18 years of age will be fighting.

Fedoboxa explained that the championship will be possible due to the hard work that its executive committee has been deploying, as well as its technical staff and the presidents of each of the 30 provinces and Greater Santo Domingo.

So far this year, the Dominican Boxing Federation has organized the National Women’s Championship with resounding success, taking place at the Pepe Mallén arena, in San Pedro de Macorís; in addition to the National Independence Cup that took place in Santiago de los Caballeros, among other events.

For this fair, the federation once again has the support of the Ministry of Sports, in the person of Minister Francisco Camacho.
