Twelfth in the Formula 1 drivers’ world championship with just 35 points and just nine ahead of his teammate, Lance Stroll. Sebastian Vettel’s season at Aston Martin is having a lot more complications than expected.
The four-time world champion is receiving a lot of criticism for his performance, but he also has defenders. Former driver Ralf Schumacher has put all the blame on the team.
“I am reluctant to think that Sebastian makes a fool of himself, rather it is the team”, has criticized Schumacher in his column in ‘Sky Germany’.
“The package is not going in the right direction and it does not seem that it can be developed, although they have a very close cooperation with Mercedes. Of course, the fact that they have signed a lot of new personnel can be an obstacle,” he detailed.
He is pessimistic about his final result in the drivers’ world championship: “I don’t think we will see Sebastian in the top-10 very often, unless there are accidents at the start like in Budapest.”
“They are definitely behind McLaren and Ferrari and even AlphaTauri is ahead, so it will be a tough end of the year for Vettel,” Ralf Schumacher concluded in his column.
